Ordering music from Piper Publications

Retail orders within the UK. Please note that there is a p & p charge of £1.50 for all UK orders under £60. Orders over £60 are post free.

If you are an individual wishing to order music use the "order music" link on the page to e-mail your request with any enquiry you may have. We will e-mail our reply telling you the cost of the music and how to pay for it. The options are all major credit/debit cards or cheque.

If you are ordering music for a UK school or other similar organization and wish to be invoiced, rather than pay by credit/debit card or personal cheque, the delivery address must be that of your organization with your name and job title.

Orders from outside the UK are payable in £sterling with carriage at cost. You will therefore need to use the blue "order music" e-mail link so that we can tell you the amount you need to pay. You will then have the option to telephone your credit/debit card details or send a sterling bank draft.

NEW PUBLICATIONS

We are publishing five works for woodwind by John R. Williamson, a pupil of Thomas Pitfield, from August 2004. The first is his Sonatina for Flute & Piano, an entertaining piece of about 10 minutes duration for players of about grade 7 + which is now available.

Sonata for Bassoon & Piano will follow - a work for advanced players.

Woodwind Quartet for Flute, Oboe, Clarinet & Bassoon for players of about grade 7+

Sonata for Flute and Piano - a larger scale work than the Sonatina for advanced players.

Mary teaches beginner violinists some of the techniques and exercises used in her method. Included are extracts from the VERY FIRST LESSON OF MADELEINE (age 5) and BRIAN (age nearly 50) in which they bow and pluck all the open strings.

Madeleine's progress is followed over 13 months during which she develops a sound basic technique using full first position on all four strings and enjoys playing lots of tunes.

HAE-YUN (age 8) is taught some more advanced techniques including vibrato, changing position and spiccato bowing. She was also filmed having her VERY FIRST VIOLA LESSON

GORDON DALE 1935 - 2001

A MEMORIAL CONCERT TOOK PLACE IN HOLY TRINITY CHURCH, WHITECROSS ST. HEREFORD ON SATURDAY JULY 13th at 7. 30 p.m.

A wide variety of Gordon's music and that of his favourite composers was performed by his colleagues and friends.

Members of the HEREFORD STRING ORCHESTRA, Leader STEPHEN BROWN, Conductor JULIE HOLLINGWORTH with PAMELA WHITE - Soprano delighted the audience with their sensitive performance of "Songs of Summer' and the last movement from Hymn Symphony plus Mozart and Elgar.

PETER WARNER, Clarinet played Gordon's delightful ''Carol for Caroline' and Paul Reade's 'Suite for the Victorian Kitchen Garden'with CHRISTINE WILLIAMS, Piano. Christine also played 'My First Sonata' and Monpou's Pajaro Triste, reflecting on the latter part of Gordon's life when his disability imprisoned him like the caged bird.

SUSAN HUMPHREY, Viola with Julie Hollingworth, Piano played Gordon's setting of Tom Bowling.

JOHN LOCK, Organ,closed the first half with a magnificent performance of Gordon's Prelude and Fugue which was written for him and will shortly be published by Piper.

BRONWEN WILKENS, a talented 11 year old harpist represented the young musicians for whom Gordon wrote so much of his music played Handel and Mussorgsky.

SOPHIE ALLEN, another talented young player, impressed everyone with her stylish performance of Gordon's Bassoon Sonata with Pamela White, piano.

SUZANNE CASEY, Violin, delighted the audience with her performance of'Mirror Images' for unaccompanied violin which Gordon wrote for her and concluded the concert with Elgar's 'Chanson de Matin and Chanson de Nuit.

An exhibition of memorabilia, scores etc. was displayed at the back of the church and people who knew Gordon were invited to take away forms on which to contribut a memory of Gordon which they would like to share.

IAN MILNES

Two of Ian's pieces for organ, ELEGY & MEDITATION ON A NUNC DIMITIS have been recorded by Ronald Frost on the organ of St. Ann's Church, St. Ann St. Manchester. This is Volume 2 in a series Music For Organ and also includes music by Ronald Frost, M. Camidge, J. S. Bach, A. Guilmant, D. Steele & Franz Liszt.

John Turner performed Thomas Pitfield's Three Nautical Sketches with the Northern Chamber Orchestra in Macclesfield 28th October 2000 and in Bowdon Church (29th).

These were the first public performances of the orchestral version. John Turner has recorded the Three Nautical Sketches and the Concerto for recorder, strings & percussion and works by Philip Lane, Edward Gregson, David Lyon, Ian Parrot & Alan Bullard with the Royal Ballet Sinfonia on the Qlympia label OCD 667.
